Laura Minervini

Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (Lisbon, Portugal)

Laura Correia Minervini is a PhD candidate in Art Studies — Art and Mediations at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, NOVA University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Susana Viegas. She studied philosophy, literature, and linguistics at Sapienza University of Rome and Georg-August University of Göttingen. Taking as a point of departure the work of Japanese filmmaker Kinuyo Tanaka and the figural link between liquid figures — primarily water — and cinema, she is currently researching at the intersection of philosophy and film, with a focus on the philosophy of time and death, as well as the feminine and its relation to the intensity of the non-linguistic within the cinematic genre of melodrama.
